Putin cuts temporarily his, Medvedev’s wage by 10% from March 1
MOSCOW, Mar 6 (PRIME) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree to cut his wage, wages of Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Prosecutor General Yury Chaika and Investigative Committee Chairman Alexander Bastrykin by 10% retroactively from March 1 until December 31, the government said in a statement Friday.
“To pay the President of the Russian Federation, the Chairman of the Russian Federation’s Government…Prosecutor General and Investigative Committee Chairman 10% less in monthly and quarterly cash rewards from March 1 until December 31,” the government said quoting Putin’s decree.
Putin also signed three more decrees to also cut wages of employees of the Presidential Administration, the government and the Audit Chamber from May 1 until December 31.
Previously, Sergei Naryshkin, speaker of the State Duma, the parliament’s lower house, calling for discussing a 10% cut government officials’ wages in line with a 10% cut of the budget which is meant to save about 200 million rubles per year.
